Frequently Asked Questions

When are classes held?

Classes are by appointment only. We typically teach on Saturdays, and start at either 10 AM or 1 PM. Corporate team building events are usually held during the week and start at either 10 AM or 1 PM. Having said that, we are happy to work with you to find a day and time that accommodates your schedule.

How do you sign up for a class?

Send us an email to let us know which class you’re interested in. Once we firm up the details and the date and time, we’ll send you a Square invoice. You can pay it online with a credit card. Paying for the class will reserve your spot.

Corporate and private events | Team building

The class page will tell you which projects are suitable for private events and team building. The studio can accommodate up to 10 people. Maybe 15. 20 people is just too many -sorry.

If you have a bigger group, we can set up at your office/location. It’s a slightly different flow though: a drop in station where people can come by to make something. Please contact us to discuss.

Planning ahead

The calendar gets filled on a first come, first served basis, so if you have a special occasion or a larger group, plan ahead. Contacting us 4 to 6 weeks before your event should give us enough time to get you on the calendar and order extra materials if needed.

Cancellation policy

If you need to cancel your class, please do so at least 48 hours from the scheduled class date and time. We are happy to either reschedule your class or refund it. A refund will incur a 3.3% fee, which is what our credit card processor charges us.

Sorry, we do not offer a refund or a reschedule option for cancellations made within 24 hours of the class date and time.

Larger groups: because more time and materials are needed to prepare for a larger group, your invoice will include a non-refundable deposit to hold your spot. The deposit covers the material and supplies that need to be special ordered and put aside for you. This is not an extra charge -it will show on a separate line as part of your invoice’s total.

Wearing a mask

Covid is up and down and sorta done but not really. Because of that, we ask you wear an N-95 mask during your time at the studio. We know its a pain but it makes sense to still do this right now. We have masks on hand if you dont have your own.

Gift certificates

We have them! We can snail mail you a pretty card or send it by email. For any class and any amount. Send us an email and we’ll get right on it.

What to wear?

You’ll be standing at the work table for a few hours, so wear comfortable clothes and shoes . And make sure whatever you wear is not going to get in the way of what you’re doing and making.

A learning experience

Taking classes at Leather Art Center is a learning experience. With that in mind, you should know that what you make might not look as perfect as the leather goods displayed on this website. That’s what makes it yours! And you’ll love it, imperfections and all :)

Pricing

Yes, if you get a friend, or two, or three to join you, the class price is a little less than the one-on-one.

The leather we use

All of our projects use high end leather made in Italy and France. They come from the same tanneries Hermes, Channel, Gucci, and other luxury houses use. Leather quality makes a difference: the way it looks of course, but also the way it responds to what you do with it, and the way it wears over time. Pricey but worth it!
